4-H is the youth development program of the land grant university’s Cooperative Extension System and the United States Department of Agriculture.

The SDSU Extension 4-H Youth Development program is delivered through a network of opportunities made available to youth in rural and urban settings. Youth have the opportunity to access learning opportunities by joining a 4-H club or by participating in non-club activities like school enrichment activities, after school activities, or 4-H sponsored camps and conferences.

37,700+ South Dakota youth explored their world through 4-H Youth Development 2,935 4-H volunteers 47% of South Dakota 4-H members are enrolled in the shooting sports project, supported by 400 volunteers giving more than 25,000 hours
