Thank you to all of the volunteers and parents who helped with all the local, county and statewide 4-H events this summer! Without you the events wouldn’t have happened and I know staff and 4-H members really appreciate your time and efforts. The old saying, “Many hands make light work.” is true and shone brightly throughout our state.
You promoted South Dakota 4-H and SDSU Extension in a positive way and helped us reach new audiences and youth. As we are approaching a new 4-H year we want to take the time to think back on the past year and thank everyone involved in the implementation of the 4-H program and all SDSU Extension programming.
Thanking Your Local Volunteers
All volunteers have different reasons for why they are volunteering and how they want to be thanked or shown appreciation. I encourage all 4-H members and parents to try a few of these tips and thank your local volunteers especially during 4-H Week October 1-7.
- Make a homemade goodie basket.
- Send a letter of appreciation to their employer.
- Send a personal handwritten thank you note.
- Recognize at local banquets and programs.
- Put a thank you ad in the paper and on social media.
