Emily Foiles, 4-H Youth Council Member: Paying it forward Back »

Name: Emily Foiles

Age/Grade: 17, Junior (11th grade)

Years in 4-H: 10 years

How many years have you been on youth council?: 2 years

Why did you decide to join youth council?

I chose to join Youth Council because I wanted to be a part of something bigger than myself. I joined because previous members made a huge difference in my life and I wanted to pay it forward.

What is something you are looking forward to with youth council this year?

I am looking forward to another great year with the rest of the Youth Council. I’m excited to get to know the new members better and plan another phenomenal Teen Leadership Conference (TLC)!

What is your favorite 4-H project area? Why?

My favorite 4-H project area is archery in the 4-H shooting sports program. It is a project area I have been in since my first year of 4-H when I was eight. I have enjoyed getting better over the years and now I am mentoring the younger shooters. I enjoy helping them to succeed.

Why should 4-H members join youth council?

Youth Council gives individuals an opportunity to grow as a leader and as a person. It is a great way to learn real life skills.
