Jordan Rusche, 4-H Youth Council Member: Developing better leadership skills Back »

Name: Jordan Rusche

Age/Grade: 17, Junior (11th grade)

Years in 4-H: 9 years

How many years have you been on youth council?  This is my first year on youth council.

Why did you decide to join youth council?

Ever since I entered high school, I haven’t had time to attend many of my 4-H club meetings or enter many projects. However, I wanted to be more involved once again, so after learning more about youth council, I decided it would be a great way to do something more in 4-H again.

What is something you are looking forward to with youth council this year?

I’m looking forward to helping plan and be a leader at TLC next year. It has been a very important part of my summer ever since I first attended when I was 13, so having a part in planning it is very exciting to me.

What is your favorite 4-H project area? Why?

Showing goats. I’ve been showing goats for 5 years, and now have a small herd of them. They all have their own personalities, and I’ve enjoyed showing goats the most out of any other livestock I’ve shown.

Why should 4-H members join youth council?

Along with making lots of new friends, I think being on youth council helps kids develop better leadership skills and gives them an opportunity to be able to add something to 4-H.
