Robert Thaler serves a swine specialist for SDSU Extension as well as a professor. He graduated with a Ph.D. in Swine Nutrition and Immunology from Kansas State University. He also earned an M.S. in Swine Nutrition in and a B.S. in Animal Science from SDSU. Thaler is certified to do pork quality assurance training and transport quality assurance training. He is the chair of the extension committee for the 2012 American Society of Animal Science’s national meeting as well as a member of the National Pork Board’s swine educators executive committee. Thaler is a past president of the SD Master Pork Producers. He is interested in nutrition, alternate feedstuffs and management. He is married with 3 kids and is a native of Wagner, S.D. He also enjoys hunting and golfing in his spare time.
