Value-Added Ag & Agritourism Discussion Panel
Wednesday, August 16 @ 10am (CST) | Dakotafest - Michell, SD
While you are at Dakotafest, be sure to stop at the SDSU Extension booth (#600) on Wednesday, August 16 at 10:00 am (CST). The SDSU Extension Community Vitality team will be hosting a panel discussion “Farm +: Adding Value Through Value-Added Ag and Agritourism.”
Agriculture is South Dakota’s #1 industry with a $25.6 billion economic impact each year. Tourism is also a strong industry for our state with an economic impact of $2.02 billion statewide. It makes sense that there may be opportunities to be explored in the areas of value-added agriculture and agritourism. Opportunities tied to agriculture are ways to potentially add to and further diversify the income streams on South Dakota farms and ranches.
Resources are available to help explore and implement ideas. During this discussion, panelists Kirk Hulstein (SD Department of Tourism) and Cheri Rath (South Dakota Value Added Agriculture Development Center) will talk about resources available. Panelists Tom Neuberger (Goosemobile Meats) and Kari O’Neill (SDSU Extension) representing Dakota Fresh Food Hub, will share producer success stories.
Join us to learn more about resources available to you in the areas of Value-Added Ag and Agritourism and maybe get an idea that you can’t wait to implement on your farm or ranch.
