2018 4-H Teen Camp Bob Marshall

SDSU Extension will host 4-H Teen Camp Bob Marshall (25007 Camp Bob Marshall Road, Custer, SD 57730) on June 12–15, 2018 for youth ages 13 to 18. You do not have to be a 4-H member to attend. We are excited to have you join us this summer! This page is your one stop shop of information about camp. Please read over the following information, especially the Camper Information Guide.

Online Registration

The $150 registration fee is non-refundable and includes meals and camp activities. Payment can be made either by credit card or check. To pay by check, select Show other payment options below the Order Now button and mail payment to iGrow, SAG 217, Box 2207, SDSU, Brookings, SD 57007 by May 18. Do not bring the payment to camp. Youth registration closes April 30. Chaperone registration closes May 14.

Please notify Katherine Jaeger or Amanda Stade immediately if you are unable to attend camp. There may be campers on a waiting list to get into camp.

Camper Information Guide

Allergies: This camp is NOT a nut free camp due to ingredients used and camp store. List any allergies during online registration.

Arrival Time: Check-in will begin at 2:00 PM MST. Please wait to arrive until 2:00 PM, as our staff will be preparing for your arrival prior to check-in. 

Departure Time: Our camp session will come to a close at 10:00 AM on your last day of camp. Those designated to pick up youth will need to meet with SDSU Extension staff to sign the youth out of camp before leaving the premises. We ask that all youth be picked up by 10:30 AM.

Camp Staff: Our staff primarily includes high school and college aged individuals who serve as counselors. SDSU Extension staff will also be present during camp. If you would like to contact staff, please connect with your local 4-H youth program advisor, Katherine Jaeger or Amanda Stade

Conduct: Please note, The South Dakota 4-H Code of Conduct is enforced at all 4-H camp functions.

Meals or Dietary Concerns: Please help us make your stay more comfortable, we would like to be prepared for you. If you have special dietary concerns or food allergies, please make sure that it is noted in your registration.  

Health History and Medications: All campers, regardless of whether they are enrolled in 4-H or not, must fill out the camper health information. This gives the camp staff up-to-date information to provide the best camp experience to the youth. All medications will be turned into the camp health staff during check-in. Exceptions are made for any life-threatening conditions or with a doctor’s note directing the need for it to be on the camper. 

In Case of Emergency: 4-H Camp Bob Marshall is staffed with a qualified health care professional who is available 24 hours a day. If there is an emergency or serious illness, parents will be notified by camp staff. Please make sure to fill out emergency contacts on the registration. 

Camper Packing List: Please label your personal belongings! It helps ensure any lost or forgotten items are returned to the correct individual.

  • Sleeping bag & pillow
  • Towel
  • Sweatshirt or jacket
  • Extra shoes (closed-toe)
  • Flashlight
  • Insect repellant and sunscreen
  • Bathroom items
  • Warm and cool clothing
  • Swimming suit and sandals for beach
  • No more than $20 for camp store

Do Not Bring: Electronics (radios, Nintendo DS, cell phones, ipods, video games, cds, mp3 players, walkie talkies, etc), valuables or other unnecessary items. It would be a disappointment if they were broken, ruined, or lost at camp. We are not responsible for lost or stolen items at camp.

Camp Store: There is a camp store with snacks, pop, and camp memorabilia. If campers would like to bring money for the store, this money will be turned in to a Lake Poinsett staff member at registration. Each camper bringing money will have a “credit account” at the store (a card listing their amount and staff will be subtracting after any purchases). Remaining funds will be returned to the camper at check out. Any money brought to camp should be turned in at registration. Please send no more than $20 per child. Food and drinks are not allowed in sleeping cabins due to allergies and camp rules.

Severe Weather: Camp staff monitor weather conditions carefully and move campers and guests to the designated storm shelter as needed. We will notify parents when appropriate, so please do not call camp during a storm so we can keep phone lines open and take care of our campers.
