2018 SD 4-H Performing Arts Troupe Camp

SDSU Extension will host South Dakota 4-H Performing Arts Troupe Camp June 10-16, 2018 at Northern State University in Aberdeen, SD. This camp is open to ages 13-18, and will prepare youth participants to perform at the South Dakota State Fair and other summer venues. his is a public event – open to 4-H members and non-4-H members.

The registration fee includes: 

  • Lodging in a residence hall
  • Meals/evening snacks
  • Insurance
  • Facilities rental
  • Performance attire (show t-shirt and khaki shorts).

The cost of registration is $400. Early registration discount $25 ends on May 14, the deadline to register is May 21, 2018. For more information contact Amanda Stade, SDSU Extension State 4-H Events Management Coordinator.

 

After registering and before the end of May, you will receive a packet of information including an informational letter, camp schedule, campus map, Code of Conduct and Health Insurance forms you need to return along with a wallet-sized portrait photo of yourself, plus a list of supplies, and possible costumes and props to bring for the show. To have our best performances, the two camp shows in Aberdeen, and the five shows during the 2018 South Dakota State Fair are mandatory for all Troupe members.

Camp: Check in or registration is Sunday, June 10, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., on the NSU campus in Aberdeen. After Troupe members check in at camp, they are not permitted to drive their cars or leave campus. Parents need to accompany youth who must leave camp for any reason (please do not schedule appointments during camp week). Following the Sunday evening meal, all youth will informally audition for roles as narrators, small group performers, soloists and dancers. Camp concludes with two performances in the Northern State University campus that are open to the public; one on Friday, June 15, at 7:00 p.m., and the other on Saturday, June 16, at 10:00 a.m. A free-will offering is appreciated at the performances. Youth will be ready to leave around noon on Saturday, June 16.
