BROOKINGS, S.D. - South Dakota State University’s Southeast Research Farm will host its Fall Field Day from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 6, 2018 at the farm located at 29974 University Road, Beresford.
Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. and the plot tour starts at 10:00 a.m.
The field day will feature tours highlighting projects and research happening on the farm, as well as presentations and demonstrations by SDSU faculty and SDSU Extension staff.

10:00 a.m. – Plot tours highlighting research at the farm
- Annual Forages at the Southeast Research Farm by Brad Rops, Southeast Research Farm Operation Manager
- Grazing Impacts on Grain Yield by Peter Sexton, SDSU Southeast Research Farm Supervisor & SDSU Extension Sustainable Cropping Systems Specialist
- Soil Health and Grazing by Carrie Werkmeister, Wetland Specialist, USDA – NRCS
- Work with Rye at the Southeast Research Farm by David Karki, SDSU Extension Agronomy Field Specialist and Peter Sexton, SDSU Southeast Research Farm Supervisor & SDSU Extension Sustainable Cropping Systems Specialist
Noon – Lunch will be provided courtesy of the Southeast SD Experiment Farm Corporation
1:00 p.m. – Grain Market Overview by Jack Davis, SDSU Extension Crops Business Management Field Specialist
1:20 p.m. – actors Driving Profitability for Backgrounding and Finishing Cattle by Warren Rusche, SDSU Extension Cow/Calf Field Specialist
1:50 p.m. – Utilizing Advanced Reproductive Strategies to Enhance Beef Operation by Julie Walker, SDSU Extension Beef Specialist
