SDSU Extension will host a Better Choices, Better Health Lay Leader Training on March 1, 2, 8, and 9, 2017 from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm each day at the SDSU Extension Mitchell Regional Center (1800 East Spruce Street, Mitchell, SD 57301).
Better Choices, Better Health SD is a chronic disease self-management education program designed to help others gain confidence while learning skills to better manage their own health, stay active, and take charge! Participants in the BCBH Lay Leader training will learn the skills required to be a certified lay leader.
- Enhance your health and the health of your community as you share the gift of self-management with others
- No previous teaching or healthcare experience is necessary, but you must plan to attend all four days in order to become certified
- After completing the four day training you will be able to co-lead the six week BCBH workshop in your community
Registration is $250 and includes handouts, other supplies, and lunch/refreshments. The deadline to apply is February 24, 2017.
If you are not sponsored by an employer or organization to attend the training to become a certified Lay Leader for BCBH and are in need of financial assistance, discounted registration may be available. Contact Megan Jacobson, SDSU Extension Nutrition Field Specialist for more information.
**As a volunteer not sponsored by an employer or organization, we ask that you complete the SDSU Volunteer Work Agreement and agree to a background check by SDSU. The SDSU Volunteer Work Agreement will be sent to you after your application has been submitted.
**If you are sponsored by your employer/organization to attend the training and become a certified Lay Leader for BCBH, your sponsoring employer/organization will need to sign the BCBH Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) which will be sent to your after your application has been submitted.
